Below are photographs showing the replacement of the slipway jetty at Rye Harbour, East Sussex. The old jetty is life-expired and will be replaced with a new timber jetty with the following improvements:
- A 20 metre extension to cope with peak summer demand
- Three sets of intergrated steps (instead of ladders) for easier access and egress
- A new high level walkway back to dry land - to ensure the jetty can be accessed in all states of tide
- Non slip decking and improved lighting
- Design life of a minimum 60 years
The cost of the new jetty including design is circa £500k. Works commenced on Monday 1st March and the new jetty is due for completion by June 2010.
